Arctic Alaska Youth Camps
The Newton Foundation partnered with Lance and Corina Kramer in Kotzebue, Alaska and W.I.T.H. Church to reach Alaska's native youth with a summer youth camp. The summer of 2009 was the first run of the camp. Many students came and experienced the love of Christ and His people. It was a great time of making contacts and learning about the culture of Alaska. In 2010, Freedom Camp had a few more native teens attend and many return students from 2009. We are very encouraged by this increase. We had approximately 18 salvations & about a dozen baptisms in the sea. Katigvik Freedom Camp 3 of 2011, had yet a different look. The camp was held up the Noatak River in the wilderness of the Arctic Circle. We had mission teams come and actually build the camp, ie, setting up wall tents, cooking facilities, meeting tent & forging a path about 200 yds. from the Noatak to a clearing for camp. Due to limited sleeping space, the camp was limited to high school students only. We had 52 students come to camp. We had 14 salvations! One of the greatest joys has been to watch our "repeat" students grow and mature in the Lord. Freedom Camp 2012 was a great success. There were 2 Jr.Hi. Camps, 1 high school camp & 1 high school leadership camp, in the wilderness on land that was graciously set aside by a native organization. Zane & Kandy have lived for 6 weeks of the summer in a tent during 2011 & 2012. 2013 & 2014 have been years of watching this camp embrace discipleship and independence. Please continue to pray for the Kramer's & the Arctic Circle.
CURRENTLY:
The Newton Foundation will be supporting the Arctic Camps through prayer & forwarding any designated donated funds. . Please email Kandy at newtonfoundation@yahoo.com if you are interested in helping. We will not be sending mission teams at this time. It's rewarding to watch this new ministry become its own & be led by the natives that God has saved & the Kramer's have discipled.
